Boaters of America Say Thank You (BOASTY):
 BOASTY is a FREE national boat outing which you can do individually on any body of water on any day you go boating and have some available seats to bring someone else with. It is meant to bring together boaters and veterans to let you connect with them and genuinely express your thanks for their military service. It started happening all over the country on May 25th 2009 which was Memorial Day. It doesn't matter where you are or how you use your boat. You can sign up for any day that is convenient for you to participate. There are soldiers or Veterans which live nearby and would love to go boating with you. You can sign up and commit to take a small group of US Soldiers out on your boat for a day as a great way to say thank you for their military service to our country.
I am hoping that they will be taken out on various types of outings. Some will be fishing trips, water skiing, rafting parties, slow cruises, and fun thrills on the various Go Fast boats owned by the thankful American boating community. Show them your view on what you think they are fighting for and thank them for the freedom you enjoy every time you go out on your boat.
It Only Takes ONE (1) Boat to do BOASTY!
BOASTY is meant to be a one boat one outing or event that you can do by yourself. It was not originally started to mean that you had to organize a large multi boat event at your marina. However some people have done and tried to do just that. It is much simpler to just offer up a few seats on your own boat, share the same food you are already bringing, and to take some people out on your boat. You don't have to make a big deal out of it by doing a fund raiser, big bbq or dinner dance, here, it's mainly about getting them out on the water for some fun! And most importantly, to show a genuine thank you for their military service.
What you can do:
Upon signing up, you will be given the opportunity to extend your personal invitation to a select number of people which you will be inviting out on your boat for a day. We ask that you give the full details of what you'll be doing with the guests/soldiers/veterans you take with you. Please give the full details of how you will accommodate them (food and drink and time) as part of your special "boasty" way to say thank you.
How BOASTY works:
First you the boater signs up as a host. Then as soldiers view host offerings based on their proximity/location to you and requests to be assigned to your boat, you will then have the opportunity to view and accept their request. As soon as your vehicle guest occupancy is filled up for that date, the link to sign up with you on your host offering will be hidden from view and  appear as FULL. Immediately following your acceptance of your requested guests, you will be able to then go back to view their profile again to get their phone number and email address from that same request page to contact them and make the final arrangements. You'll tell them when and where to go to connect with you on your day to take them out. If you cannot take your guests on the date you chose, please call to notify them and arrange a new date which works best for all of you.
Just a quick word about this system. In order to participate you will need a member account (which is FREE) for the boasty/hotboatdeals.com system. This member account you'll create will allow you to perform the various tasks necessary to participate. It is also meant to protect your information and privacy no matter if you are a host or guest. This system will NOT push to sell you anything or to charge you anything. On HotBoatDeals.com there will be advertisements which support how we pay for the site. These ads earn us nothing except for when they are clicked. So you are not earning us any money by just visiting the site or viewing any of the content here in. On doit.boasty.org there will not be any banner advertisements.
Hosts / Boaters / Yachtsmen
1. Add your vehicle profile which can be then used for multiple outings.
2. See if your location is listed on the locations page, if not, add it.
3. Click "Sign up as a Host" and fill out the form with as much detail as you can.
4. Wait for requests to join your boat. Accept the requests you have a connection with. Plus tell people about it! Help get the word out!
Guests / Veterans / Soldiers
1. First, If you do not already have an account, register for a FREE BOASTY account. (top right on this page)
note: you will receive email confirmation from BOASTY confirming your account is ready to use.
2. Log into your BOASTY account. (if not already logged in)
3. Proceed to "Step 2" below and click on the "View Locations" link
4. Click on the location(s) closest to you. View the offerings of boaters in each location. Click on the boat picture to see the full details of that boat.
 5. Click on the date for the boat you want to request to go with. Fill out the form, wait for a response from the captain/Boat Owner. Keep in mind that someone else may have beat you to that boat. So if you only have one day to go out, try again on another boat.
Please be sure to bring a signed copy of the BOASTY Liability Waiver.
A donation is NEVER required to participate in any hosted event. However, please keep in mind that donations provide the primary resources we use to "Spread The Word" about BOASTY. Any donation, no matter how large or small, is always GRACIOUSLY accepted on behalf of BOASTY. We understand the hardships created due to the current economy. If you would like to help, but just can't afford to donate, simply spreading the word about BOASTY to fellow Veterans, Retirees, and Soldiers will be considered by BOASTY to be a very worthy donation.
